Welcome to the AAR and SBL Employment Services!

Select whether you are an AAR or SBL member to gain access to Employment Listings or the CV Submission and Review System (this section is only open to candidates registered for the Employment Center). If you are a current member of both organizations (dual member), select either button.

Select the Employer button if you wish to post a job advertisement or access your employer account.  Individuals with existing AAR or SBL member accounts must establish an employer account with an e-mail that is not tied to the member credentials.

Through the Site, AAR and SBL allow third parties to post job listings. The postings are provided for reference only and do not imply any endorsement of or any association with such third parties. The Organizations do not control such third parties and are not responsible for the content of their postings. Any representations made regarding such third parties or the job positions are governed by the policies and representations made by said third parties. The Organizations may accept, reject, or remove postings, and the Organizations shall not be liable for any such removal.

The Employment Service conforms to the American Association of University Professors’ 1940 Statement of Principles on Academic Freedom and Tenure, whereby “limitations of academic freedom because of religious or other aims of the institution should be clearly stated in writing at the time of the appointment.”

By using this system, you agree to its terms and conditions. These include guidelines for interviews conducted through the employment center. The practice of holding job interviews in a hotel room not specifically setup and designated by Employment Services for that purpose is strictly prohibited, without exception. Anyone who learns that an unsanctioned interview will be held in a hotel room should report it to careers@aarsbl.org. All reports will remain confidential

AAR and SBL also support the linked best practices concerning academic job offers, and asks employers for both AAR and SBL members to state whether or not their institution is in compliance with these practices on every job ad.

AAR and SBL are proud sponsors of ImaginePhD, a free online career exploration and planning tool for PhD students, postdoctoral candidates, and scholars in the humanities and social sciences.  You may access ImaginePhD here.
