Employer Services

This site offers a number of services for employers, including Employment Listings for advertising jobs and the Employment Center, the facilitated interview space at the Annual Meetings. Employers must post a listing and register for the Employment Center in order to conduct facilitated interviews at the Annual Meetings.

Employment Center 

The Employment Center is held every year at the AAR and SBL Annual Meetings. It provides job listings hiring institutions will be interviewing for, candidate credentials for review, and an interview facility for hiring institutions and job candidates. Registration for employers will open July 2, 2021. All active members of the American Academy of Religion who have registered for the Annual Meeting can register as candidates with the Employment Center.

Employment Listings

$60 per week, per position (no discounts offered)

All jobs registered with the Employment Center must be advertised in the online Employment Listings

The cost for this ad is not included with your Employment Center registration fee. Note: candidates are encouraged to begin reviewing Employment Listings and start applying for jobs in August.

Employment Center Registration (2021 Registration closes on Thursday, November 18th)

Registration: $300 (includes an interview room and one three-hour block)

Each additional three-hour block: $100
 

All registered employers receive:

  • Interview room use and ability to invite any registered Annual Meeting attendee to an interview*
  • Placement of one job ad in the Annual Meetings edition of Employment Listings, available to candidates prior to the Annual Meetings
  • Icon next to your online ad indicating the position is registered for the Employment Center
  • Access to candidate credentials at the Employment Center and also online through February 14, 2022
  • Ability to interview any Annual Meetings registrant whose interview has been arranged prior to the meeting

*Dependent on availability employers may be able to register onsite
 

Registration

Only people registered for the Annual Meetings may use the Employment Center. All search team members attending the Annual Meetings must be registered for it. You may register as an AAR or SBL member, dual member, or nonmember.

Center registration for employers opens on July 2, 2021 and closes on Thursday, November 18, 2021.

Please note again that “open” and drop-in interviews are not allowed; you need to ensure enough lead time to schedule candidate interviews prior to the meeting.

Only registered employers who are logged in may access the CV System. 

 

CV Submission and Review System

Provided you have registered for the Employment Center, you can get to the CV System here, if you are logged in. If not, first log in here if you have an account. If not, create one here

Once you register with the Center as an employer, you can access CVs. Within two business days, you will be emailed instructions for sharing access with other search team members. CVs will be accessible until February 14, 2022.

CVs are categorized by field of specialization and searchable by both specialization and candidate name.

If you do not receive your instructions via email, contact careers@aarsbl.org. Be sure to check your spam email folder as the instructions are sent automatically by the system and might therefore be interpreted as spam or junk mail.

Interview Rooms

This year, we will only offer conference rooms for interviewing. We will not have an interview hall. The first three-hour block will be free and each additional three-hour block will be $100 - the same format will apply for the Monday four-hour blocks. The time slots for 2021 are as follows:

In early November, all employers who have reserved a conference room will receive an email with instructions regarding the use of the room, including instructions to distribute to interviewees. Room numbers will not be available until the morning of your reservation. You can tell your interviewees to arrive at the Employment Center at least twenty minutes before their scheduled interview so that they can be sent to the proper location.

Reservations cannot be taken prior to the completion of the employer registration process.
